Ark named as finalist in the UK IT Industry Awards by Ark Data Centres, 12th September 2013

ARK Data Centres has reached the finalist stage in the UK IT Industry Awards 2013 category for Data Centre Project of the year.

The BCS and Computing UK IT Industry Awards are a platform for the entire profession to celebrate best practice, innovation and excellence. Ark, supported by partner Romonet, has been recognised for their innovative approach to data centre delivery. By driving down costs, and lowering the total cost of ownership (TCO) Ark is in a unique position. The Romonet partnership allows a precise modelling of each client’s project to ascertain how it affects their environment and the overall efficiency of the data centre – focussing on Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) and therefore enabling Ark to provide clients with the one of the lowest TCO in the industry.

David Clarke MBE, Group Chief Executive Officer of the Institute, commented: “As the Chartered Institute for IT I’d like to congratulate this year’s finalists. They showcase not only the innovation and the professionalism of those working in IT, but also demonstrate the importance of IT in delivering business and social benefit.”

Stuart Sumner, Editor of Computing said : “Computing would like to congratulate the finalists. It’s great to see such a wide range of industries represented, highlighting the fact that IT is truly embedded throughout business, and our society.”

Richard Borton, Operations Director of Ark, said: “Ark is delighted to be a finalist in these prestigious industry awards. Ark’s aim is to deliver the most efficient data centres in the UK, known as the Arks. Romonet were chosen as a partner to collaborate with us and be instrumental in our advancements in lowering the Total Cost of Ownership for our clients.”

Ark’s data centres can save clients £1.1 million and 6,000 tonnes of carbon, per megawatt of IT, per year in facilities operating at PUE of less than 1.25 compared to the industry average PUE of 2.5.

The winners will be announced at the Awards Dinner on the 13th November.
