Sport Relief 2018 by Ark Data Centres, 13th March 2018

Here at Ark we never shy away from a challenge – particularly when it is for such an amazing cause.

After the big success of our last fundraising efforts we are preparing our arms, legs and lungs for a mighty Ironman challenge. Even if we don’t usually need any motivation to push our bodies and minds to the limit, this time around we’re doing it for an especially good cause: Sport Relief. With more than 2000 projects in the UK and around the world, they are bringing a change to thousands of people’s lives, one step, stroke and pedal at a time.

The Ironman challenge

This year we decided to take on the perfect triathlon challenge: a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and a 26.22-mile run. Since our Data Centres are not equipped with an Olympic-size swimming pool, we decided to switch the swimming for some (drier) rowing. On the 23rd of March 2018 both our Data Centres will be equipped with a static rower, bike and treadmill to let everyone in the company participate and give their physical support to the Sport Relief cause.

To make things more interesting, we decided to let our two sites battle each other for the Ironman title: each team will do their best to outrun the other one, competing while also raising money for charity.

Those less likely to be captured wearing lycra are invited to join the collective effort, either by handing towels and water to their perspiring colleagues or by donating through the appropriately created fundraising page (we definitely prefer the second option!).

Bring it on, Team Ark!
